The Latin American Group for Gender and Justice (ELA - Equipo Latinoamericano de Justicia y Género), is pleased to present in this publication the Shadow Report prepared together with organizations and institutions working in Human Rights in Argentina and submitted during Session No. 46 of the Committee on the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW or the “Convention”) in July 2010. This publication contains the recommendations that the Committee submitted to the Argentinian State.
Facilitating the access to public information is a determined obligation of the State. In this sense, the CEDAW Committee has requested the Argentine State to disseminate the concluding observations.
Even though NGOs cannot and do not pretend to replace the State in this obligation, we can inform and disseminate, insofar as we are able to, the contents protected by CEDAW specially and the partial realities we collect from the lives of women in Argentina from a human rights perspective. This publication is a contribution in that sense, which points out the aspects which cannot be absent in the agenda for the next years as regards gender equality.
